Dear Friends,

As the days begin to shorten through the fall and winter, we turn toward the Light with a new year of program offerings. We anticipate the celebration of Christ’s Incarnation, in the fullness of our daily lives as we seek to follow Him. For the past few years, September has marked not only the beginning of our semester-long courses, but also the initial gathering of the year-long spiritual direction groups that meet every month through May. The light from those praying groups touches those around them, including those of us here at New College Berkeley who know that they are praying together.Consider participating in one of these groups as a way of praying through the year with other Christians.

Each New College Berkeley program offers an opportunity to set our hearts to seek Christ. The company of others helps us do that. The focus of the programs also helps us do so,whether the focus is on writing our journeys, studying Hebrew Scripture, understanding spiritual disciplines, or coming together for a retreat or a lecture. Study is a spiritual discipline, one in which many of us become rusty when the years of our formal education end. In NCB programs you’ll study with lay Christians, seekers, and seminary students. Together we become partners in prayer while studying the Word that gives life.
